Sponsorship of the Summer Reading Programme for South Waikato District Libraries. This programme encourages children from 4-11 years of age to read, and to explain what they read in their own words. The Summer reading programme was put together in 1997 when the Eastern and Central Community Trust agreed to financially support the development of a New Zealand based reading programme. The aims of the programme are:

This programme is presented over the summer holidays with enrolment from November to finale late January. The Kiwanis Club of Tokoroa have sponsored this very popular programme for some years now, and are encouraging other clubs to take part.

Production of the Tokoroa / Mangakino Community Telephone Book. This is an asset to our elderly residents, and to the community generally.

Sponsorship of children to attend the annual Christmas YMCA Camp.

Sponsorship of children to attend Kamp Kiwanis each April

Collection of educational resource materials for transport to schools in Vanuatu

Collection of books for the 1st Tokoroa Scout Troop Book Sale

Assisting with the running of the Tokoroa A&P Show

Fundraising for a world-wide project to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (ELIMINATE) in Third World countries. Tetanus spores are present in the soil and may enter the body as a result of unhygenic birth practices. The spores cause the release of a nerve toxin which results in extreme muscle spasms and death. Vaccination to prevent this costs just NZ$2.20 for each woman and child.

Remodelling of an accommodation unit for the Hearing Dogs Association in New Plymouth. This project, in conjunction with several other Kiwanis clubs in this District, saw a garage remodelled into a comfortable home for recipients to live in whilst they and their dog are being trained to work together.
