|Governor-elect Brian Reed

Information about the 2018/2019 Governor-elect for the New
Zealand - South Pacific District of Kiwanis International and the Governor-elect's
goals for the year.
||Brian was born and educated in Christchurch and and after
leaving school started work the food industry, training as a grocer. While
doing this, he worked part time in hospitality. Three years later he moved
to hospitality management full time.
His job was at the Winter Gardens which hosted cabarets, dinners, weddings,
etc. During this time he met and served royality. Twenty years later
he moved to headquarters which was a large catering company and took over the
roles of human resources, V.I.P. management and control of up to 500 staff.
During this time Brian married and had two sons Michael and Matthew. In
recent years he meet Carolyn who is also a very dedicated Kiwanian. She has
two daughters, Lisa and Tina, and has five gorgeous grandchildren. Now
after nearly forty years he is semi-retired and gone back to duty manager for a
large supermarket chain.
In Brian's early years he was very competitive in sports. Soccer,
ice skating, roller skating and judo then motorsports and the love of cars.
He still has a 48 year old M.G. which he has owned from when it was new.
Brian's Kiwanis journey started - 38 years ago when he joined the Kiwanis Club of
Northlands and he has been very much involved with Kiwanis ever since. Over
this time he has held many club positions, several times, lt. governor three
times. He is now stepping up to the role of governor in order to share his
knowledge and fully promote Kiwanis.
|Brian's goals for the 2018/2019 year :
||Brian aims to raise the profile of the Kiwanis organisation in schools and
within the community at large. Kiwanis is one of the world's foremost
volunteer organisations and more people need the opportunity to share the fun and
friendship we enjoy as we set about helping the children of the world.
