This page contains information about our 2023 district convention which was held 18-19 August, 2023, in Christchurch, New Zealand.   The convention was hosted by the two Kiwanis clubs in Christchurch.

About the Venue and Accommodation :
 
  The official convention hotel was the Rydges Hotel, Latimer Square, Christchurch.  All business sessions and the Saturday evening function were held at this venue.

Program - Pre-convention - Thursday, 17 August, 2023
 PM 2022/2023 district board meeting (for 2022/2023 district officers - observers welcome).
 PM Governor's function (by invitation) to thank his 2022/2023 district officers and support team.
  Evening NZ-SP Past Governors dinner and discussion (own cost).
  Evening Normal meeting night for the Kiwanis Club of Chistchurch - visiting Kiwanians invited.  At Armadillos, Christchurch.
 
Program - Pre-convention - Friday Morning, 18 August, 2023
 AM Convention registration desk open.
 AM District Foundation Trust meeting (for Foundation trustees).
 
Program - Day 1 - Friday Afternoon and evening, 18 August, 2023
 PM All members to be seated in the conference room.
Housekeeping - evacuation instructions, toilets, etc.
 
 PM Opening ceremony.
  •  Welcome by Organising Committee Chair.
  •  District Anthems, Flag parade.
  •  Invocation (Letitia).
  •  Reading of Objects of Kiwanis in English and French.
  •  Guest Speaker - Pauline Cotter, Deputy Mayor of Christchurch.
  •  Musical show presented by divisions 6 and 7.
 
 PM Business session 1.
  •  Opening remarks by the Governor.
  •  Apologies.
  •  Club roll call.
  •  Remembrance ceremony – candles - reading - minute of silence.
  •  Adoption of the rules and procedure of the convention.
  •  Appointment of a parliamentarian and scrutineers.
  •  Announcement of motions and resolutions.
  •  Introduction to Linda Lawther, the 2023-2024 Kiwanis International counselor for our district.
  •  Approval of the minutes of the 2022 district convention.
  •  District Treasurers Report.
 
  •  Presentation of proposed changes to the district bylaws - Mike McIvor.

Registration Fees :
 
  The full registration fee for all Kiwanis members and guests was NZ $ 320.  Note that the full registration fee for partners or guests includes both the evening sessions but participation in the partners program incured an additional charge.
 
Registrations are now closed.
 
Partial registrations were available for non-Kiwanian partners or guests who wish to attend only :
  • Friday night social at the Races (includes meal and transport).  Cost is $75.00 per person.
  • Saturday night formal dinner (at Rydges).  Cost is $95.00 per person.
  • Partners' Program on Saturday (includes lunch and transport).  Cost is $70.00 per person.
  • Farewell Brunch (Sunday morning) at a venue near the Airport.  Cost is $15.00 per person.
There was NO partial registration for business sessions only this year.
