2003 District Convention - Napier



The 2003 district convention was held 5-6 September, 2003 in Napier on the North Island of New Zealand. The event was hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Napier. The principal venue was the War Memorial Conference Centre in Napier.

Located on the beach of Napier's famous Marine Parade, the Napier War Memorial Conference Centre offers an all purpose built venue that uniquely combines spectacular outlooks with functional layout.

Napier and the surrounding Hawke's Bay region:
Napier and the surrounding Hawke's Bay region have a typical Mediterranean style climate with some of New Zealand’s highest sunshine hours. This makes the region famous for its high producing vineyards, apple and stone fruit orchards and wide range of horticultural crops.

Hawke's Bay's two main centres, Napier and Hastings make up the bulk of the province's population, and are only 20 km apart. Napier, largely a retail centre, is situated right beside the ocean and utilises both its shipping port and airport as vital transport links with other New Zealand centers.

Napier is world famous for its Art Deco architecture, which is a major avenue for the city's tourist industry. Other links with information about Napier:

Accommodation Arrangements:
By special negotiation with the three main convention hotels, studio units were available at a cost of $100 for 1-2 people, extra people $15 each. Costs of other units by negotiation with the hotel.

Fees:
The full registration fee was NZ$220 per person for members and the same rate for partners. The full registration fee was discounted to NZ$200 provided the registration was received by 1 August, 2003. This included participation at all social events plus morning and afternoon teas, Friday and Saturday luncheons, workshops and associated activities including the partners program for registered partners. Children under the age of 12 did not need to register and there is no program for them.

Partial registrations were available for NZ$130 per person per day. The partial registration included ALL activities offered during the day and evening on the selected day.
