all people of good standing wishing to make a difference in the community.
Kiwanis clubs perform services beyond the capability of the individual; assistance
to the ageing, the needy, and to youth; improvement of communities; encouragement of
international understanding. Christchurch Club was 37 years old in August, having received its charter on 27th August 1971. Our sponsoring clubs were Dunedin Kiwanis Club and the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham, Alabama, USA. We have built and sponsored several new clubs - North West Christchurch 1973, Port Hills 1974, Blenheim 1976, Ashburton 1977. Three members from our club have gone on to serve as NZ South-Pacific District Governors and eight have been Lt. Governors. |
